IZIKHUNGO ezibhekelele ukuxhasa amabhizinisi ngemali kumele zibe yingxenye yesisombululo sokuthuthukisa ezokuthuthwa komphakathi eNingizimu Afrika.

Ekhuluma engqungugqutheleni ebigxile ekubhekeni ukuthi zingathuthukiswa kanjani ezokuthutha e-Afrika iSmarter Mobility Africa, uNksz uMaponya uthe ezokuthutha kumele zibe neqhaza ekuletheleni abantu inkululeko kwezomnotho.

“Sifuna inzuzo noma sifuna ukubona uguquko? Kumele sibe yingxenye yesisombululo. Njengamanje sinemali kodwa sinemboni engakwazi ukuyithola leyo mali,” kusho yena.

Zonke izikhulumi kule ngqungquthela zivumelane ngo-elethu ukuthi mkhulu umsebenzi okumele wenziwe e-Afrika ukuze ezokuthutha ziphuculwe. Zithe kudingeka kulungiswe ingqalasizinda ukuze ingagcini nje ngokumumatha umthamo wezimoto kodwa futhi ikwazi nokuhleleka futhi iphephe uma abantu bekhetha ukuhamba ngezinyawo noma ukushova amabhayisikili.

UMnu uChris Kost, umqondisi e-Institute for Transportation and Development Policy Africa eKenya, uthe kubonakele ngesikhathi amazwe evaliwe ngenxa yeCOVID-19 ukuthi zingakanani izinselelo ezibhekene nezokuthutha kanjalo nengqalasizinda. 

Uthe kumele kushintshwe nendlela ibhizinisi lamatekisi elisebenza ngayo ngokuthi imali engenayo inganciki esibalweni sabagibeli kodwa kuye nokuthi itekisi lihambe amakhilomitha angakanani.

“Sibonile ukuthi uma kunemigomo njengokuvalwa kwezwe nokunciphisa abagibeli, loko kuba yinkinga nokwenza ukuthi izindleko zokusebenza zigcine zidluliselwa kubagibeli.  Kuyadingeka ukuthi uhulumeni axhase amatekisi ngandlela thize,” kusho yena.

ENingizimu Afrika kube nomdonsiswano phakathi kukahulumeni nabemboni yamatekisi emva kokuthi uhulumeni ememezele ukuthi uzoyinxephezela ngoR1 billion, nokwakuzosho ukuthi itekisi ngayinye izogcina ithole phakathi kukaR3 500 noR4 000. 

Abamatekisi bayichitha le mali, bekhala ngokuthi ingamakinati angeke abasize ngalutho njengoba belahlekelwe yimali kade izwe livaliwe futhi nesibalo sabagibeli esivumelekile sasincishisiwe.

UMnu uLance Schultz, umphathi weGauteng Automotive Industry Development Centre, uthe ngeke kubalekelwe ukuthi amatekisi kuseyiyona ndlela yokuthutha umphakathi abantu abaningi emadolobheni nasemakhaya abayincamelayo. 

Uthe kudingeka ukuthi kutholakale isisombululo sokuthuthukisa ingqalasizinda esizosiza ukuhlanganisa zonke izindlela zokuthutha umphakathi. Uthe kumele kuncishiswe nokuthengwa kwezimoto kwamanye amazwe.

Inhlangano emele abakhiqizi bezimoto iNational Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (iNaamsa) ithe ayikweseki ukuncishiswa komthamo wezimoto.
